Concept
The Eclipse-City concept came into being during 2003, prior to the hugely successful 2003 Eclipse in the Antarctic. Robert Schreuders and Federico Avellan-Borgmeyer, together with Xavier Jubier, the roving Eclipse Advisor, established the Eclipse City concept.
The Eclipse-City motto is "nothing is impossible".
The objective of the Eclipse-City concept is to allow eclipse enthusiasts the best view of any solar eclipse, regardless of the location on our beautiful planet without abstaining from basic (or even luxury) comfort, but taking all ecological factors into consideration.

"Rob" Robert Schreuders (a born African with Dutch parents) and "Rico" Federico Avellán Borgmeyer (a born Nicaraguan with German mother) happened to meet in Madrid in 2000 in the midst of the new economy's up-turn. Maybe we can put something together?
Four years later, the impossible had been made possible: To safely take eclipse enthusiasts to the inhospitable Antarctic region to view a total solar eclipse, the first viewed by human beings on the Antarctic continent. This unique and successful venture led Rob and Rico to found Eclipse-City.
Organizational skills and negotiating expertise have allowed them to be able to package programs, affordable to most, but focusing on allowing eclipse enthusiasts the best view of any solar eclipse, regardless of the location on our beautiful planet without abstaining from basic (or even luxury) comfort.
Several solar eclipses later (South Pacific, Madrid, Libya, Turkey and China), Rico still runs the company, getting ready for major projects in The Philippine Sea in 2009, Easter Islands in 2010, Australia in 2012. Rob on his side decided - after 2 very stressful years on preparing the eclipse program in Libya - to sell his company shares and pursue other interests back in his home country in South Africa. However, Rob will remain an Eclipse-City Associate and be seen during our forthcoming events.
